FANTASY
"The Society for Cultural Studies in Finland and the Research Centre for
Contemporary Culture at the University of Jyväskylä arrange an
international and multidisciplinary summer school in Jyväskylä on 3 - 5
June 2009. The theme of the summer school, which will be held in English,
is "Fantasy".

"Fantasy" has become an essential conceptual framework in efforts to
describe and analyze the dynamics of today's cultural developments.
Functioning as an interface between psychology and culture, fantasy is a
diagnostic tool as well as an object of empirical study.

The Summer School calls for papers dealing with these issues. Both
theoretical and empirical work is welcome. Possible subjects or fields of
study include fantasy and media; fandoms; cults and cult relations;
religion; science fiction and fantasy in the arts, literature and popular
culture; sexuality; consumption and market behaviour; the cultural history
of fantasy; cultural and psychological theories of fantasy; violence."
