Marie-Curie konferens: Migration Management – New Forms of Multi-Level Government

Granada, Spanien

"The last conference of the series will synthesise all the topics discussed in
the 2004–2007 conference series. This conference starts out addressing
and questioning the paradigm of the manageability of international migration
fl ows. Next, the role of international organisations in channelling migration
and supporting integration and settlement processes is analysed. The impact of multi-level approaches on local governments, agencies and institutions involved in the management of migration will be a major topic of the conference. Trends and possible consequences of the multi-level reality of migration management will be identifi ed: the shift of political authority from the national level down to the regional, provincial and communal levels and upwards to the European level will be addressed. The redistribution of governmental functions and their consequences for European migration politics will be assessed. Last, but not least, this last conference of the series will identify pressing issues and topics within migration research and identify research gaps. In this context the participants are invited to reflect critically on their role and responsibility as migration researchers and practitioners."
